First he does something extremely idiotic, then he withdraws in his signature TACO fashion, with a result that all his loyal little lackeys are cheering.

  1. So if reducing tariffs *lowers* prices, what then did adding them do?

I’d like MAGA to ELI5 for me on this one.

  2. And MAGA will totally buy into this idiocy and call him a genius. Lather, rinse, repeat

  3. this reminds me of how pimps manipulate girls to stay by beating them up then nursing them back to health

  4. If only I could be forewarned of these actions to buy and sell my capital interests to profit from my intentional crashing and “saving” of the economy.

  5. Worse than that… in some cases he created the policy, has since come back complaining about the policy, and at best may get us back to neutral if he successfully changes it.

The new USMCA, replacement for NAFTA trade agreement with Mexico/Canada being the obvious example.

He signed it in 2020 and told us what a stupendous agreement it was and only he could have made it happen.

Then in 2025 he asked “Who would sign a thing like this?” And called the agreement “unfair.”

He’s not just terrible at governing, he’s also a stonecold moron.

  6. Eric Daughtery might be the worse follow on twitter

  7. What a crock of shit. If he were truly going “ALL-IN on affordability”, why isn’t he dropping ALL OF THE TARIFFS?

Only dropping three of them is going SOME-IN on affordability.

  8. It’s like slapping a kid and then giving them candy—confusing but somehow still celebrated.

  9. His tactic is the same one as with a man who feeds his dog with it’s own tail

  10. It’s worth remembering he’s preying on the fact the rich benefit, and the poor majority don’t understand how the economy works and fall for his short term policy changes.

It’s why it’s worth sometimes reminding MAGA maniacs what the tricks are, because this is going to be in the GOP playbook from now on.

  11. Throwback to playing Witcher 3 where Id loot everything that could be looted from a dirt poor village only to hand them a few crowns as handouts to the poor children and they would be SO happy with me for it.

  12. It’s also literally fascist tactic to create a problem yourself and then try to claim credit for “solving” it.

  13. Based on MAGA, I can bet they’ll spin this into saying the tariffs were put by Biden/Obama.

  14. Not mention telling Repuhkicans to vote to force the release of the Epstein files that he could release at any time.

  15. Reminds me of that Jesus meme where the saviour is telling the person on the other side of the door to let him is so he can be saved.

  16. It’s just like…Jesus died to forgive you from the sins that he originally condemned you to in the first place. And pretty much the same followers that believe that, follow Trump. Cognitive dissonance

  17. That’s trump’s playbook. Create a problem, the price rises, blame the other guy, price lowers back to normal, says I’m a genius I fixed it!

  18. Two of those three products made no sense in the first place, if a tariff is meant to protect domestic producers.

The third one makes no sense to drop, if you really wanted to protect a base of voters who reliably have voted Republican for decades.

Then again, it’s not as if McDonalds and Burger King buy American beef in the first place.

  19. At this point I wouldn’t be surprised if Trump played peekaboo with them and believe he suddenly vanished, giving him enough time to leave the room and diddle kids with Epstein release those files

  20. well you see since the tariffs were put in place banana manufacturing has returned to America, so the tariffs are no longer needed

    checkmate libs

  21. I’m getting karate kid flash-backs. Tax on, tax off, tax on, tax off, ….

  22. “Beat that bitch with a coat hanger, then draw a warm bath and put her in. She’ll be so thankful that you’re taking care of her, she’ll forget that you’re the one who did it to her”

    – Iceberg “Memoirs of a Pimp”

(It goes something like that I’m paraphrasing a paraphrase)

  23. Another example of Trump creating a big problem, then comes up with a solution and tout his achievements.
