It’s painful to watch it, Hans…

  1. so dumb to leave nuclear energy for…fossil fuel reliance (more expensive, more geopolitical dependance, more polluting). The future is nuclear + renewable.

  2. Do they have proper storage or are they trying to repeat our clusterfuck with former salt mines?

  3. We are on the path. When the cost increases they will find a way to put another undersea cable. Germany isn’t the sick man of Europe, it’s a junkie.

  4. Hans will say that 19 billions is a huge amount of money to spend over 10 years while spending twice that amount every year on renewables that produce 0.00 energy in winter

  5. As long as they know where they will put the trash…

  6. They should build it. We don’t care. They will take twice as long to build and the electricity isn’t cheaper.

  7. Our incompetent government is managing to pass on the costs of storage and problems with radioactive waste to taxpayers. The profits went to the corporations, but the next and next and next generations will have to pay.

Germany was probably a little hasty and fearful when it came to shutting down the reactors. It would probably have been smarter to keep them running until good, clean alternatives for base load or storage had been found.

Nevertheless, a return to nuclear energy is not an option. Supply contracts have already been terminated, reactors shut down, and new construction would be a billion € drain, see France.

  8. Because they’re stupid, we should consider taking them under our leadership so the country grows the right way (our way of course)

  9. Great to see our dear neighbor decommission their perfectly operational reactors, so that our much smaller budget can shell out $19bn to keep their lights on in winter.

  10. This subject always trigger the fuck out of me.
Always same shit, the whole Europe telling Hans he’s regarded while Hans is furiously typing and downvote like if his life depended on it.
I hate you Hans in these moments…

  11. So they can have a more dangerous, more expensive and more elaborate to manage energy source that doesn’t go well with renewables in twenty years with double the initial build cost when you could just invest in renewables, a better energy grid and energy storage? Yeah makes sense to me.

  12. Also the Josefs south of us. Look at our power plant being built up just few kilometres from your border!!

  13. We’ll see when it’s finished.

How’s Hickley Point C going, btw? Are they still building, or is it already turned into a Museum of Bad Economics?

  14. You can’t escape Hans.

    Join us.

    Pray to the atom.

For he will grace us with non Russian energy

  15. RemindMe! 10 years

“The 18 billion will turn into 100 billion, and when this reminder hits, not one of the new Nuclear Power Plants has produced a single kilowatt-hour of electricity”

  16. People against fission energy are a special kind of regard
