Canadian carrier WestJet has confirmed it is launching flights from Toronto to Cardiff Airport (CWL/EGFF) and Glasgow Airport (GLA/EGPF) for summer 2026.
As previously reported, the routes will be flown by a Boeing 737 Max 8 will operate four times per week to Cardiff on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays departing Toronto at 22:10 local time, arriving into Cardiff at 10:15 the next day.
Return flights leave Cardiff on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays departing Cardiff at 11:35 (…) flights start on the 22nd of May 2026.

Great news in theory, but had a look and in the ball park of £600 for a return. Considerably more expensive than ones I’ve seen from Heathrow unfortunately (same dates about £460).
For a family of three, that’s about a £500 difference.
Don’t get me wrong, really pleased to have it as an option and hopefully a good sign for Cardiff airports, but needs not just to have flights, but reasonably priced ones too.
To be fair the Devils do have a lot of Canadians playing for them! It’ll be interesting to see how a big Transatlanic route like this does in Cardiff, especially given that Canada is currently a very popular tourist destination
