Khanna, Massie urge release of Jeffrey Epstein files
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, Ro Khanna and Thomas Massie urged the release of the Jeffrey Epstein files alongside survivors.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene has been everywhere lately as she’s feuded with President Donald Trump and many of her fellow Republican lawmakers.
Now, some political observers are wondering if Greene, a longtime MAGA loyalist, is setting a new tone to potentially run for president in 2028. The Georgia Republican was pressed about a possible White House bid in a Vanity Fair feature published Monday, Nov. 17.
“Well, I’ve burned down the military-industrial complex, Big Pharma, now the health insurance industry, pretty much ever group that lobbies up here in Washington D.C.,” Greene initially claimed, according to the outlet.
When asked again, Greene said that “I have never said I was running for president.” After she was pressed a third and final time, she had a different answer. “Uh, I am not considering running for president. I’m literally trying with every soul (sic) in my body to just do this current job,” Greene told VF.
The former MAGA fan favorite has been exiled by Trump after she spent most of his first year back in office bashing her own party in Congress and bucking House Speaker Mike Johnson.
The public breakup appears to center around Trump’s past ties to convicted child sex offender Jeffrey Epstein – and the release of the government’s files on the disgraced financier – as well as Greene sounding the alarm on rising health care costs that were at the center of the government shutdown.
Trump revealed last week that he was on the outs with Greene, calling her “wacky” and assigning a new nickname, “Marjorie Traitor Greene.” The president alleged that her recent evolution was due to him declining to support her in Georgia’s Senate primary next year and dismissed her recent appearance on “The View” as a final act of defiance.
During the interview, the Georgia Republican called it an “embarrassment” that the GOP-led House was out of session a month into the government shutdown.
“All I see ‘Wacky’ Marjorie do is COMPLAIN, COMPLAIN, COMPLAIN!” Trump wrote on social media Nov. 14. He said he would no longer endorse her and encouraged other candidates to challenge her next year in the Republican primary for Georgia’s 14th congressional district, which she has represented since 2020.
Greene posted in response that “I don’t worship or serve Donald Trump. I worship God, Jesus is my savior, and I serve my district GA14 and the American people.” Still, she told CNN’s Dana Bash on Nov. 16 that she hoped the pair can recover from their rift.
“I certainly hope that we can make up,” Greene said when asked if the president and the Georgia Republican have a path forward. “I can only speak for myself. I’m a Christian, and one of the most important parts of our faith is forgiveness, and that’s something I’m committed to.”
