California Proposition 50 will pass, ABC News projects based upon analysis of the exit polls.
Prop 50 will temporarily change the boundaries of several congressional districts for the 2026, 2028 and 2030 elections, but in particular, five districts where Republicans are currently in power.

President Trump, Gov. Newsom square off on Prop 50
President Donald Trump and Gov. Gavin Newsom are squaring off ahead of the Prop 50 vote.
In a Truth Social post, the president said it is a “GIANT SCAM.”
Trump went on to say that mail-in ballots in California are “under very serious legal and criminal review.”
Shortly after, Newsom posted Trump’s post on X, saying “The ramblings of an old man that knows he’s about to LOSE.”
The redistricting battle began when President Donald Trump asked Republican states, like Texas, to do exactly that.
In response, California Gov. Gavin Newsom announced a plan to bolster Democrats, which led to a special election being called and Prop 50 being placed on the ballot.

No evidence ICE will be at polling locations
Leading up to today’s election, there have been concerns ICE agents could be deployed to polling places.
Gov. Newsom recently warned it could happen amid the immigration raids. At this point, however, there’s no evidence immigration enforcement officers will be at voting centers.
There are several federal and state laws that prohibit armed officials near vote center, including a Civil War-era law making it a felony for any federal official to send troops or armed persons to a polling place.
