In the 5-match Ashes 2025-26, Australia are looking forward to clashing against their arch-rivals England, starting from November 21. The first match will be played in Perth, which is likely to favor the bowlers more. Hence, Australia’s star bowler Mitchell Starc opened up about the roles and expectations of each bowler ahead of the series.

With the absence of Captain Pat Cummins in the first match, the hosts might look weak, but Starc has gotten strong experience and will be looking forward to leading the bowling attack. He spoke about how Scott Boland has been around and gained experience in Test cricket which will be beneficial for the home side.

“I think we’re all pretty clear on what our roles are. Obviously I’ve got a little bit more experience there. Scotty’s been around for a fair while now, so it’s not like I’m telling him what to do. We’ve got Patty in the sheds with us anyway. So, I may take on a little bit of an experienced role, if you like. But we’ve all been around the traps for a while, so it’s just staying together as a group,” said Mitchell Starc in the pre-match press conference.

Australia’s star bowler also spoke about the practice sessions and how important the first Test is going to be since that will be the beginning of the series. Starc, one of the best bowlers in the world, looked confident and answered the questions with calmness, hinting towards Australia’s present mindset. With the series starting soon, it will be interesting to see which side will take the trophy home.

“I don’t listen anyway. I’m not someone who’s going to bowl within myself or be cautious with anything. It is what it is. You can’t prepare for Test three, four and five without playing the first one. We’re all focused on this week. It’ll be handbrake off and away we go,” Starc told reporters on Wednesday.
