US secretly drafting Ukraine peace plan with Russian input

1. I believe it when I see it. For a year, we’ve been hearing about how Putin and Trump plan on dividing Europe, and so far non of it really has materialised. Trump administration is doing constant 180 shifts in rhetoric which don’t effect the reality that Trump continues Biden’s policy pretty much, with the biggest change so far is forcing the spineless European leaders to pay for it all.

2. Trump is just trying to stall in the hope that Russia can somehow win, because Putin won’t be happy with him otherwise. But trump can’t openly help Russia win because then it essentially proves he is putins bitch.

   This “peace plan” will be just another desperate attempt to create a narrative of “Ukraine has no cards” and make them stop fighting.

   But it won’t work, because the damage Ukraine is inflicting on Russian infrastructure is hugely disproportionately destructive and will only get worse for Russia.

3. Russia has no incentive to settle for a peace plan that isn’t massively in favour of them. So either the US won’t find an agreement for a peace deal, or they would negotiate what is essentially a surrender for Ukraine. The latter of course won’t accept that, but unlike with Russia, the US has leverage over Ukraine. The main question is whether the Americans will use that leverage in an attempt to pressure Ukraine into signing such a peace deal. And what will the UK and EU do in that case?

4. As opposed to the EU drafted peace deals without russian input that amount to “please stop the war, give up all your gains and pay reparations because we asked please thanks”

   Any realistic peace deal is going to require input from both sides.
