  1. “I’m very fucking unhappy my country made it to the World Cup”
    – One miserable cunt, November 2025

  2. It must be a strange existence constantly wondering/worrying about the opinion of English people.

  3. what about that 26%? “Ah cannae stand thit us made it tae the world cup”?

  4. Who are the weirdos that are unhappy? Like I don’t even follow football and won’t be watching any of the World Cup as a result, and I’d still say I’m happy we made it.

  5. I’m English and in my 50s and was on the edge of my seat the whole game and punching the air for every Scottish goal.

This match, and the Ireland game the other night, are up there with crystal palace winning the English fa cup as the most emotional experience of watching football for years for me.

One of my oldest friends is Glaswegian and his kids are both under ten, so for them it’s fantastic. Over the years I got used to my mate being depressed every time Scotland didn’t make it to the world cup so it was great to chat with him after the game and share in his joy lol

    Amazing couple of days 🙂

  6. I don’t think the others are unhappy, they just don’t care. Like I don’t give a shit how Scotland do at rugby, or show-jumping.

  7. To be clear, the majority of the remaining 60% of English fans are “neither happy or unhappy” or “don’t know” (not sure what the difference is). Less than 5% are unhappy in some form.

  8. Did they not get round the other 26%?

Like who says “nah this is shite. Fucking terrible thing to happen that”

  9. “dont care, I don’t support scotland” said one of my footie fan neighbours, in what sounded like a staunch accent, when asked.

  10. I’m happy Scotland are in the WCF but not happy that the finals are (in part) to be in the USA

  11. I’m English and I’m happy for Scotland.

The sheer level of hatred…sorry banter as its popular to call it in Scotland. (Although if it was directed at a minority it would be a hate crime)….directed at English people aside…

  12. I’m Ingerlish and am delighted Stevie “Terrorist-ball” Clarke made it. Fair play.

  13. Ergo the majority are unhappy at Scotland qualifying.

I wonder if FIFA were to insist on the UK having only one international team, how long would the UK survive in its present form..

  14. What was the point of this moronic poll? To stir shit?

  15. 74% of people living in the ‘region’ of Scotland, which is not the same as ‘Scots’ in the sense of people who identify as such and would care about the team, only 83% of Scottish residents were born here. I appreciate that there are political sensitivities here making this distinction and I know (goodness forbid!) I’ll get downvoted by the usual sensitive lot, and I’m not saying people move here can’t support Scotland, merely that I wouldn’t assume that the other quarter are all dour misery guts or extreme self-hating unionist types, they might in all good spirt and innocence just support England, or Poland, or Ireland, or who knows instead from childhood and not care or know much about the Scotland team.

  16. Englishman – I was very much supporting Scotland lat night and in ‘98 I remember watching the Brazil match in a pub in London with everyone cheering on Scotland.

All that being said, I’m always a bit suspicious of a Scots persons who doesn’t want England to lose.

Make of that what you will.

  17. Was watching the game in a pub in London and people were going absolutely mental. One of the best collections of goals you’ll ever see certainly didn’t hurt.
