I am a third country national, and my wife has recently moved to Luxembourg on a dependent visa (she has obtained a temporary authorisation to stay and has applied for a residence permit).
As the rules currently stand, she would need an employer willing to sponsor her work permit. After a lot of market research, we have found that this is a chicken and egg problem because it’s very hard to find employers willing to sponsor.
I came across this article https://delano.lu/article/luxembourg-to-ease-work-permit
This gives me some hope, but I can’t find anything on the internet to back this up. Many of the neighbouring countries have an automatic right to work for spouses, so naturally one would expect that a country like Luxembourg dependent on international talent would also eventually get there.
Does anyone have any insights on this?

Nothing new since that article was written. Luxembourg is verrrrrryyyyyyyy slow in getting things done.
It shouldn’t be hard finding employers sponsoring work permits. Most international companies do it.
