Following the playoff draw for the 2026 World Cup, Slovakia captain Milan Shkriniar has reacted with praise for Kosovo, their opponent in the semi-finals.
The renowned center-back, who has built a rich career in Europe playing for clubs such as Sampdoria, Inter, PSG and now Fenerbahçe, stressed that none of the playoff teams are weak.
“Out of all four opponents, it was impossible to find a team with less quality. They are all balanced teams. Kosovo has made excellent qualifications and we will not have it easy,” said Skriniar to the official website of the Slovak Football Association.
He added that the main advantage for Slovakia will be the atmosphere at home, which could play a decisive role in this one-on-one duel.
“We have the advantage of the home environment. With a full stadium, we will give 100 percent and experience a magical evening. Together with our fans, we are convinced that we will get closer to the big goal,” said the Slovakian captain.
Skriniar closed with a clear message: “See you in March!”
The clash between Slovakia and Kosovo is expected to be one of the most interesting matches of the European playoffs, with both teams seeking the golden ticket to the 2026 World Cup.
