Imagine samsung not perpetuating the media push that all women are in constant danger by all men at all times.
Its upsetting to realise some women feel unsafe running. I love an early hours, run it’s a simple pleasure that everyone should be able to enjoy. Having said that I just can’t understand how this ad could offend someone.
Imagine being so pathetic that this offends you
> Women’s safety group Reclaim These Streets has described it as “tone deaf” in light of the death of Ashling Murphy who was killed on a run in January.
>The 23-year-old’s death in Tullamore, Ireland, opened up the conversation about how unsafe some women feel running alone, especially at night
Wasn’t she killed in the afternoon though?
People aren’t allowed to be depicted as going out to exercise because a runner was killed?
What sense does that make? People have been killed while doing every activity you can think of.
>”Women don’t run at that time because we are too scared to,” she told Radio 1 Newsbeat.
Really? *None*?
Oh fuck off. And when you get there fuck off again. By that logic any advert showing a woman going for a drink, using public transport and a myriad other mundane things should be pulled.
Sad that we have reached this point.
Women not shown to be independent and capable = years of campaigning to change this perception
Women shown being independent and capable = yeah but what if a guy attacks her
?????
What time of day would have been ok then? 11pm, 11am, maybe 5am would be better for some reason?
Or, just maybe we should drag up that wonderful idea to put all men on a curfew.
Fact:
Men are 90% of the victims of violence.
Proposition:
BBC are creating hysteria to “manufacture consent” for anti-male laws. See curfew / anti-staring-laws / quotas for women etc

So basically, they want people to buy into their fear. They are causing women to fear for their safety.
That’s definitely not feminist, and highly unethical.
I have to admit my very first thought when I saw this advert was, “Would many actual women feel safe going running at that time of night?”.
My second was, “How many women were involved in this ad concept?”.
My third was, “hmmm, I must upgrade my phone”.
I don’t know that Samsung needed to necessarily apologise for it, but there is a real issue regarding girls and women exercising out in the open and what they have to contend with. I run quite a lot, and the vast majority of women I know who run have had abuse or unwanted attention when they’ve been out training. It’s not as straightforward as the time they choose to go out – I know some who prefer to go out in the early hours because it’s much quieter and they’re actually less likely to get bothered, but there are all sorts of factors such as whether they’re in a rural or urban area. The one thing I do know is that as a hairy older bloke, I can pretty much go out for a run whenever I like without thinking I might have to run the gauntlet of some twat leering out of a van window at me.
This was discussed on a running group I’m a member of, but some of the blokes of a certain age who chimed in were more interested in moaning about how it’s the woke crowd at it again than actually acknowledging how big an issue this is.
Comment section is mostly trash in here.
Just posting this for any women reading, it’s awful how unsafe you feel when doing solo activities like running at night, we as a society need to change this, and as a man I cannot understand how other men are trying to speak for you on this topic as if they “know better than you do” because …. Men?? Anyway stay safe, one love.
In Samsungs next ad, the woman will be raped and murdered to add more authenticity
That women’s got a bigger pair of balls than Samsung.
If the advert had shown a man running alone at 2am they would have to apologise for showing that “only men are safe to do that”. Either way, the same group of people would be offended.
Is this some sort of alt-woke? Now its prickly to show a woman being comfortable to run at night where the vast majority of places are safe to do so? I’m so confused.
To add to this, most violence against women is domestic and done by people they know.
Oh fuck off.
If this was a man, the same group would be saying “look, it’s a man on a run at 2am. He must be a rapist”
This is getting fucking stupid now.
I work in PR, albeit in the music industry, but top tip for everyone saying “who complained about that?” No one. No one complained.
The whole thing was a PR stunt. Samsung now have advertising on one of the most read news sites in the world, one which doesn’t normally allow adverts.
Fantastic PR frankly.
> Reclaim These Streets
> Dont dare show people reclaiming the streets…
“Women don’t run at that time because we are too scared to,” she told Radio 1 Newsbeat.
And trying to get this advert taken down helps? All that does is keep women scared.
For an organisation called Reclaim The Night, they seem pretty content with keeping women locked up at night.
I think a lot of the problem with the discourse around gender today is that we are gendering problems that are not exclusive to one gender.
All it does is divide us and stop us from focusing on trying to solve the problems that we all face.
Why is this terrible and needs an apology? The advert is encouraging people do what they want when they want and live on their own terms.
Are they really assuming because she’s a woman she’s in immediate danger? Ffs. I think they have the wrong end of the stick here and that apology was mistakenly issued in some sort of panic in marketing.
I hate how there’s an assumption the world is unsafe in the media. It’s really not, you could be attacked at anytime of the day. Caution is a given when out and about at 2am, but I take the same caution at 5pm.
Taking down the ad is a bit dumb but men in this sub really need to get over their persecution fetish lol
I used to get more nervous running in the day than at night, as I was more likely to have some tosser slow down their car to tell me I have a nice bum or just gawk.

I just run at the gym now, less of a hassle.
