Worst food per capita

  1. It’s definitely true that northerners have a more utilitarian approach to food, it’s supposed to fill your belly quickly before your fingers get too cold, so you can get back to wörk.

  2. And then proceed to make you pay for the displeasure of eating their food

  3. Jokes aside, I think that we dutchies can say we definitely don’t value food as much as other and even neighbouring cultures.

Most typical dutch dishes are either deepfried snacks (and I’d say we’re good at snacks) or designed by doctors to be cheap, nutricious and uniform and were taught to or grandma’s at ‘spinache academy’. All the world is gushing about how good their grandmothers can cook, I’m not, they both went to spinach academy and are very good at boiling potatoes, steaming vegetables and frying up small pieces of meat.

Traditional breakfast and lunch are the exact same: some slices of bread, one topping. Many will eat their breakfast and lunch standing or on the go and won’t spend more then a few minutes on it.

Diner doesn’t take that long either, come to think of it.

Paying a visit? Expect black coffee and a singular biscuit, a bit of hard candy for the kids.

And that’s why PIGS are poor.

  4. Wait, didn’t the Dutch one time eat their own prime minister?

    That’s peak foodie-ism
