At least 100 squatters have moved into a former European Commission office building on Rue de Genève in Evere, according to the local Brussels-North police zone.
At least the European Commission provides the right to decent housing for the Belgians, as stated in the Belgian constitution Article 23, §3, 3°.
probably too cold to camp in the garden
Empty government building being used to house families with kids. Sounds pretty good to me.
Stupid headline.
The EC used to rent the building, but moved out in the past few years. The building itself is owned by some foreign investment group/vulture capitalists.
This has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with the European Commission.
Sounds like the building is being put to good use! Who would disapprove of such a thing.
I hope they will put social case workers on this problem and not expulse them (although I think they legally cannot in Brussels during the winter)
Cause that place will be riddled with drug abuse, theft and violence
Especially with public attention like this article it will invite more squatters
