I have seen the weapon act, read it all, and only says non automatic knives and no symmetry in the blade. How big can the balde be? Are knives that mechanically fix the blade ok? Like in the link https://youtu.be/B-2VBeYLrm4
Edit: I do not plan to bring a knife to kill or fight people… I just really like this kind of knives and I often go camping. I was asking because I now carry a normal Swiss army knife, that does not mechanically lock, and when I’m trying to stick it in something it can close and cut a little on my fingers. Funny enough I am not going to use the knife on anything other than wood and cardboard.
To recap: Mechanical opening is fine, don’t buy ninja looking knives, and of you need a sword you can have it.
Thank you all for your answers, there is a cool pdf in the comments if you can read German!

Locking blades are OK. If you use your knife as a tool, anything else is dangerous.
As long as it’s not an automatic or symmetric blade, it’s length is irrelevant. Blades that lock in place after opening, but that don’t open automatically are also ok.
Here’s a [handy PDF document](https://www.fedpol.admin.ch/dam/fedpol/de/data/sicherheit/waffen/merkblaetter/verboten/entscheidungshilfe-messer.pdf.download.pdf/entscheidungshilfe-messer-d.pdf) by the federal police department FedPol explaining what’s ok and what’s not.
Basically, any knives made to be used as tools are ok.
two sided blades can’t be used ad tools safely, same with self opening knives or butterfly knives, so those are not ok.
edit: anyway go read this https://www.fedlex.admin.ch/eli/cc/1998/2535_2535_2535/en

A regular knife is just a dangerous object and not a weapon.
« How big can the blade be? » Swords. Swords are not weapons.
The following are weapons:
« butterfly knives, throwing knives, knives whose blade can be opened by means of an automatic mechanism that requires the use of one hand only, with an overall length of more than 12 cm and a blade longer than 5 cm;
daggers with a symmetrical blade no longer than 30 cm;
devices that are intended to injure a person, in particular knuckledusters, simple or spring batons, throwing stars and slingshots with arm support;
all electric shock devices (stun guns) and spray devices with irritants according to Appendix 2 Weapons Ordinance (WV), except pepper sprays. »
The rest is not.

To answer OP, his blade can be any length and can be lockable. But no self opening knives allowed, and no symmetric blade. (and no weird knives like butterfly)

don’t bring a knife to a gun fight.
you won‘t need a knife on you in switzerland.
I want make people aware of article 4, part 6 of the weapons law ( Waffengesetz). IMO it states that the swiss army knife is not a dangerous item.
Does anyone know if Kershaw assisted opening blades are allowed?

It’s not considered automatic, however isn’t quite clear.
Swiss knife in your pocket is mandatory in Switzerland.
Be careful, even if you allowed to carry such knifes, it needs to not be easily accessible, so don’t just carry it in your jeans. Put it away in a pocket inside you bag for example. (I contacted my local police station to be sure if my knife was legal). And also every building /compagnies have their own rules. (Schools)
