I need a few menu ideas – If you were to begin your Sunday lunch with a starter course, what would you serve?

  1. Currently awake far too early so decided to start looking for quotes for removal firms and end of tenancy cleaners, so await with morbid curiosity how much that’s going to cost us. In the meantime we’re meeting my parents halfway between our two sides of the country amfor a pub lunch and for them to look after some bits and pieces that we don’t want getting damaged during the house move 

  3. Woke up about an hour ago. Literally have nothing on my to-do list today. Should be a guilt free day of doing nothing but I think it’ll be anxiety ridden and I’ll feel as if I’ve wasted yet another day not achieving, as I often feel when I don’t have a to-do list for the day. Maybe I’ll bake a cake. Maybe I’ll cook a roast 😟

  4. Probably a nice prawn cocktail, or mozzarella/avocado/tomato salad with a l’il pesto drizzle.

    I am meeting up with some friends later for a pub lunch, which will be lovely.

  5. I’m doing very little today. I slept terribly last night. I fell asleep too early, and as a consequence I woke up too early. I’ll need to catch up tonight. Never one to be traditional, I’m making spaghetti bolognese for lunch.

    I regret choosing the above image for today’s Sunday thread. Zoomed in, you can see a bird in flight on the left side of the picture. Zoomed out, it looks like there’s a dust particle on my screen, and I keep wanting to wipe it off.

  6. Watched F1 then got kidnapped by a teddy fleece duvet cover and it doesn’t appear it will let me go any time soon

  7. Will be making the following today:

    * Bakewell pudding
    * Sweet and sour stir fry
    * homemade yoghurt

    Aside from that, a bit of washing, a bit of tidying and, if the rain ever stops, a walk out to the park or the river.

  8. The luggage from holiday is sitting patiently waiting to go back up in to the loft. 
    Since I’m up there, might as well get the Christmas decorations down. 

    I made some progress in Hollow Knight: Silksong yesterday so might continue that success today. 

    Ooo! Almost forgot start course. 
    It’s winter so we often have a soup starter. Root veg chopped and in a pan, salt, pepper and maybe some smoked bacon too. 

  9. Its absolutely lashing down here. Like proper biblical rain so I’m still in bed. Having a lazy morning so far. The dogs don’t seem too keen on getting up either. Will have to make a start cos the cat who is permanently up to no good has decided its food time. Other cat is a nice normal cat and is still asleep.

    Not sure what to do for the rest of the day. Was going to do some gardening (weeding and getting stuff sorted for winter), but might make a cake instead.

    ETA: Sunday lunch starter would be either smoked salmon with a good dressing and a bit of salad, or smoked salmon pate and toast. I love smoked salmon.
