LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — During a press conference, Kristi Noem expressed pride in the collaboration between the Department of Homeland Security and the state of Nevada on immigration matters.

She highlighted the success of the 287-G program, which allows local law enforcement to engage in immigration enforcement alongside their regular duties.

“We’ve had great collaboration with the governor, but also with local sheriffs,” Noem said. “Nevada has partnered with us in a program called 287-G, which is an incredible program that authorizes local law enforcement to go out and do criminal activity and enforcement that they typically do, but also do immigration enforcement in partnership with our federal agencies.”

Noem emphasized the importance of legal entry into the United States, stating, “America is a country of hospitality. We love to have visitors, but they have to come here legally, and if they’re coming here to visit, then when they’re done visiting, they need to go home.”
