Four migrants hospitalized after rescue south of Crete

Four migrants are being treated at Iraklio hospital on Crete after they were found Sunday morning on a boat carrying 35 people, 55 nautical miles south of Ierapetra, in the island’s southeast. .

They were spotted by a Liberian-flagged vessel, prompting an immediate Coast Guard rescue operation.

The remaining 31 people were transferred by Coast Guard vessel to a temporary accommodation facility in Ierapetra, where three are under medical supervision.

The four hospitalized migrants showed symptoms of exhaustion, dehydration, and hypothermia. Their condition required support from an Air Force Super Puma helicopter, which airlifted them to Iraklio hospital.
