US-Russia draft peace plan for Ukraine sparks debate • FRANCE 24 English

Ultimately, the summit between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin without Vladimir Zalinski failed to yield any tangible progress towards peace. But is that about to change? Reports of a peace plan drafted by Washington and Moscow to end the war in Ukraine have emerged. The 28point plan, understood to be inspired by Trump’s Israel Gaza deal, covers four main topics. Peace in Ukraine, security guarantees, security in Europe, and future US relations with Russia and Ukraine. Its architects, US special envoy for peace mission Steve Witkov, and Kremlin adviser Kiriel Ditriv. The draft plan, first reported by US news website Axios, would require Ukraine to seed territory in the eastern Dombas region, currently under its control, in return for a US security guarantee for Kev and Europe against future Russian aggression. It would also ask Ukraine to cut the size of its armed forces by half and limit US military assistance that has been vital to its offense since Moscow’s full-scale invasion in February 2022. conditions which Zilinski has called non-starters in the past. The Trump administration has repeatedly suggested that it’s closing in on a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine. But proposals have failed in the past because they would have granted Moscow most of its demands while requiring Kee to make painful concessions. Zilinski, who held talks with Turkish President Reipat Erdogan on Wednesday, is set to meet with a US delegation currently in Ukraine on Thursday. No face-to-face talks have taken place between Kev and Moscow since a meeting in Istanbul in July.

Reports suggest that the US and Russia have quietly drafted a new 28-point peace plan to end the war in Ukraine, covering peace, security guarantees, European stability, and future US relations. The plan, inspired by Trump’s Israel/Gaza approach, would require Ukraine to cede territory in the Donbas, halve its armed forces, and limit US military aid—conditions President Zelensky has previously called ‘non-starters’.

  9. Ukraine already has "security guarantees" from US signed on a piece of paper. There's no use in signing another one.

    The only security guarantee that works are tanks, missles and troops stationed at the border. Either Ukrainian or from trusted third party.

  10. Zelenskiy had agreed in principle to the Istanbul April 2022 peace agreement. That agreement was far better than any deal Zelenskiy will get now! That's what happens when you listen to Boris Johnson!

  12. I may be prescient. Ukraine and, consequently, the EU will reject Trump's lopsided terms, and a pouty Trump, again, will threaten to take the ball and go home.

  13. What do you do when a part of the hand or leg has gangrene, and the gangrene (similar to Ukraine corruption) is clearly spreading? You chop off the gangrenous part. Right? That is America's proposal.

    What is wrong here ???

    This is a very important and urgent operation & must for overall wellbeing of rest of Ukraine. Otherwise, Biden's dream of "to the last Ukrainian" will come out to be true.

  15. trump knows he will be impeached in one year. So trump is forced to accelerate his rescue of putin. No choice. France, Germany, Italy, UK, Poland all need to prepare to enter the war on the side of Ukraine. Because success in Ukraine will entice putin, backed by trump, to do the next land grab in Europe. And to cost for Europe to defend Europe – goes up.
    Europe faces a choice – enter the war – or fall behind the Iron Curtain.
    Me? I'd fight.

  16. "13. Russia will be reintegrated into the global economy". Europe better drop all sanctions to Russia or the US will get all the business deals.

  17. This isn't a peace plan, it is a desperate plot to turn Ukraine into a Kremlin vassal. Ukraine and Europe will push back. Patience Zelensky, Trump will be a lame duck soon, some say he is one already. The next POTUS will support Ukraine.
