WANA (Nov 24)- Text of the Iranian Foreign Ministry Statement:
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran strongly condemned Sunday’s airstrike by Israeli regime fighter jets on a residential area in Beirut’s Dahiyeh district and the assassination of senior Lebanese Islamic Resistance commander, Martyr Haytham Ali Tabatabaei.
The Ministry described the attack—which violated the November 2024 ceasefire and constituted an assault on Lebanon’s territorial integrity and national sovereignty, killing and injuring dozens of Lebanese civilians, including women and children—as a blatant act of terrorism and a war crime. It also stressed the need to prosecute and punish the leaders of the regime responsible for this operation.
While paying tribute to the distinguished status of Martyr Tabatabaei—who devoted his life to defending Lebanon and resisting the Zionist enemy—the Ministry extended condolences to the leadership and fighters of Hezbollah and to the families of the victims.

It added that continued U.S. support for the Israeli regime remains the key factor enabling its persistent violations and aggression, underscoring the direct responsibility of the ceasefire guarantors in this regard.
Recalling the Israeli regime’s repeated breaches of the ceasefire, the Ministry expressed regret over the inaction and silence of the United Nations and its Security Council in the face of Israel’s ongoing attacks and countless crimes against the people of Lebanon, calling this stance unjustifiable.
It urged the international community to take serious action against what it described as the regime’s organized terrorism and warmongering against Lebanon and other countries in the region. Israel’s military adventurism in West Asia, it warned, represents one of the gravest threats not only to regional peace and stability but also to international peace and security, making countering this threat a global responsibility.
