LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — A new report from the Joint Economic Committee highlights a significant rise in living costs for Nevada families since President Donald Trump took office.
The report indicates that the average U.S. household has spent an additional $700 in the first eight months of Trump’s presidency, with Nevada families experiencing nearly $1,000 in increased expenses, one of the highest in the nation.
The findings underscore the impact of inflation on American households since January.
Senator Rosen criticized Trump’s policies, stating, “Donald Trump promised to bring prices down ‘on day one.’ This grim report shows how Trump’s reckless policies and tariffs are doing the opposite: raising costs and hurting hardworking Nevadans.”

Rosen has been actively opposing Trump’s tariffs, voting to end tariffs on Brazil and supporting legislation to study the economic effects of tariffs on Canada and Mexico.
Senator Maggie Hassan, Ranking Member of the Joint Economic Committee, echoed these concerns, saying, “While President Trump claimed that he would bring down prices, the reality is that Americans have seen their costs soar even higher since he took office.”
The report, released as the October Consumer Price Index, was delayed due to a government shutdown, and details increased spending on essentials like electricity and baby products under Trump’s administration.
