A new oceanfront hotel is coming to Iceland’s south coast. The Black Sand Hotel will open in January with 70 rooms, with nine suites coming in March and a spa in May.

Guestrooms will feature minimalist design with natural materials and a neutral color palette. Floor-to-ceiling windows will offer views of the North Atlantic.

The hotel will be home to Omur, an 80-seat restaurant specializing in Nordic cuisine, and the Omur Bar, serving craft cocktails and seasonal small plates.

Once open, the Black Sand Hotel’s spa will have a sauna, steam room, cold plunge, treatment room, yoga room and geothermal hot tubs. Gym kits with in-room fitness equipment will be available upon request.

For stays through April, the Black Sand Hotel is offering promotional opening rates of $210 per night, including breakfast, taxes and fees.
