Football fan or not, this sporting milestone seems to have captured the attention of the whole nation.

It is a reminder of how sport can bring people together and provide us with an escape from whatever else we might be dealing with.

I hope that this achievement can be a catalyst to allowing more people of all ages to engage with football, and sport more generally, whether that’s taking part or spectating.

I personally cannot wait to watch Scotland play in the World Cup again, having followed the team to France in ’98.

I still look back fondly on those memories now and am delighted that young people across Scotland can cheer on the national team on the largest stage next summer.

In other news, I want to highlight the expansion of the Young Carer Grant to eligible 19-year-olds.

This grant which was previously open to 16 to 18-year-olds is a Scottish only benefit that gives young carers a yearly payment of £390.25.

They can use this to pay for whatever they want – such as driving lessons, tech to help with work or study or new clothes.

This is just one of the improvements being made to support for carers and our wider social security system, ensuring that people are treated with dignity, fairness and respect.
