President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika on Sunday evening met with a delegation from the International Monetary Fund at Mtunthama State Lodge in Lilongwe.
The delegation was led by Abebe Selassie, who serves as the IMF Director for Africa.
The meeting offered an opportunity for Director Selassie to express appreciation for President Mutharika’s vision for the nation.
Particular emphasis was placed on how the administration intends to tackle the economic challenges currently facing Malawi.
The discussions also examined areas where the IMF could provide support to complement the government’s ongoing initiatives.
Both sides highlighted the importance of partnership and collaboration to promote sustainable economic development.
The engagement reaffirmed Malawi’s commitment to working closely with international institutions to strengthen economic stability.
President Mutharika and the IMF delegation concluded the meeting with a shared understanding of the next steps for cooperative efforts aimed at advancing Malawi’s financial resilience.
