Japan launched its own bureau of government efficiency Tuesday, just after the infamous Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) in the United States was reported to have been dismantled.
But the two organizations won’t have much in common.
Officially named “Office for Administrative Reform and Promotion of Efficiency,” the bureau will cooperate with the ministries of finance and internal affairs on budget overhauls and spending reviews, Finance Minister Satsuki Katayama said at a news conference Tuesday.
