The only reason they are doing this is that they will probably need the DUP again come next election. The people of Northern Ireland are fine with the protocol, and they voted accordingly.
I live in Northern Ireland and don’t know what “grave situation” Truss is talking about here. There is no social unrest here and supermarkets are full. Suppliers have been sourced from Ireland to fill the shortfall. If she is referring to the assembly not sitting due to the DUP refusing to elect a speaker or to nominate a first minister that issue does not require amendments to the protocol to solve.
