haha – yeah, this is how it was. And no mobiles glued to your face – you’d either not take them, or leave them in the glove box of the designated driver’s car. Ah, fun times!
I was on a work night out about 10 years ago; we went to the pub and it was fun. It was getting late and they decide to go to a club and they did the usual thing of telling those that wanted to go home that they shouldn’t. One lad was trying to impress everyone because he knew somebody at the club and could get us in without queuing, which turned out to be true for everyone except me. The bouncer was really nice about it and apologised, but said that I can’t go in looking the way I do without some little shit wanting to start a fight. I thanked him for an excuse to not go in to somewhere like that and went home.
More like 50 years. I remember late 70s clubs started opening where you couldn’t get in if you were wearing a suit.
This begs the question.
What are guys wearing to a nightclub now?
Whats a local nightclub?
In my day you had to actually wear a shoes, trousers, shirt AND a tie!
Maybe a bit of Lynx to freshen up
Remember the loud shirts, my brother would go out in a bright yellow or green shirt, looking like a 1970s cushion cover
Clubs with this dress code where not worth going to.
Warehouses, fields, barns, aircraft hangers and huge marquees with punters dressed to sweat and dance all night long was where it was at!
Proud to say I never owned a pair of shit flickers
I had that exact shirt 🙂
This is how older men dress to get try and get young girls at the night club
He’s not getting in without a tie. He’ll have to improvise something with a shoelace.
I used to dress smarter to go out and get pissed than I do to go to work these days.
yh thats too much for me atleast
Imagine going for a pint with that boring fucker!
Splash of cool water and you were set to make em wet
Pointy shoes or puddle catchers.
Was a fucking pain in the bum as an 18 year old. One dickhead would always show up in black trainers then we’d need to blag the bouncer
Make that a Hawaiian shirt and we’ll talk.
Would be nice if any of the fuckers were still open
Wrong. 30 years ago…
The other day I was talking to some friends who live in the London area. They were joking about needing to wear shoes to get into clubs and decent pubs in the North.
As a northerner, the idea I would go to a club or pub in anything other than a clearly heeled shoe bemused me.
Nowadays people can rock up in slippers or sliders and still get in.
I met my best mate when he moved to my college from down south and the first night we went out he turned up like this and I was so confused.
Looks way better than nowadays.
I haven’t been to a nightclub in years. What is the general dress code these days?
