Air Canada has announced its major expansion for Summer 2026, adding new non-stop routes to several popular European destinations. As part of the airline’s strategy to bolster its transatlantic network, Air Canada will introduce direct services between Montréal and Berlin, Germany, and Nantes, France, as well as between Toronto and Ponta Delgada in the Azores and Halifax and Brussels. These new routes will further establish Air Canada as North America’s second-largest transatlantic network by destinations.
The new services will not only offer Canadian travelers greater access to Europe but also provide a seamless connection to key business and leisure hubs, supporting tourism and economic ties between North America and Europe. The additions also reflect Air Canada’s commitment to expanding its international reach, with the airline continuing to enhance its European portfolio.
What’s New for Air Canada’s Summer 2026 Transatlantic Expansion
Starting in June 2026, Air Canada will operate non-stop flights from Montréal to Berlin and Nantes, while Toronto will have direct services to Ponta Delgada, São Miguel Island in the Azores. Additionally, Air Canada will offer a second international route from Halifax to Brussels, further improving the airline’s European connectivity. These new routes complement Air Canada’s earlier announcement of new services to Palma de Mallorca and Catania (Sicily) from Montréal, Shanghai and Budapest from Toronto, and year-round services to Bangkok from Vancouver.
Montréal to Berlin: A New Gateway to Germany
Air Canada’s new three-times-weekly service between Montréal and Berlin will offer passengers a direct connection to Germany’s vibrant capital. Beginning on July 2, 2026, Air Canada will operate the route onboard its newest Airbus A321XLR, featuring Business Class with lie-flat seats and an economy cabin. The flights will operate every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday from Montréal and Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday from Berlin until October 10, 2026.
Berlin is known for its rich history, cultural landmarks, and vibrant arts scene, making it a prime destination for both leisure and business travelers. Air Canada’s new service aims to enhance accessibility to this dynamic European city.
Montréal to Nantes: Exploring France’s Loire Valley
In addition to Berlin, Air Canada will also offer new non-stop flights from Montréal to Nantes, a picturesque city in France’s Loire Valley. Starting June 10, 2026, this new three-times-weekly route will operate on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, with return flights on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The narrowbody aircraft will offer both Premium and Economy cabins, ensuring comfort for all passengers.
Nantes is known for its rich history, beautiful architecture, and proximity to vineyards and scenic landscapes, making it an attractive destination for tourists looking to explore the Loire Valley.
Toronto to Ponta Delgada: Connecting Canada to the Azores
Air Canada will launch its new route from Toronto to Ponta Delgada, the largest city on São Miguel Island in the Azores, Portugal. This direct service will operate three times per week, every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, from June 11, 2026, to September 5, 2026. Ponta Delgada is a popular destination for its lush landscapes, volcanic craters, and hot springs, drawing both nature lovers and adventure seekers.
The Azores, a group of islands located in the Atlantic Ocean, have become increasingly popular as a travel destination, and Air Canada’s non-stop service will make it even more accessible to Canadian travelers.
Halifax to Brussels: Strengthening Canada-Europe Ties
Starting June 18, 2026, Air Canada will operate three-times-weekly non-stop flights from Halifax to Brussels, with return flights on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. Brussels is a central hub for travel across Europe and Africa, and the addition of this route provides Canadian travelers with better access to the European Union’s political and business heart.
Brussels is also a major center for arts and culture, offering visitors a mix of history, gastronomy, and modern attractions. The new service will complement Air Canada’s existing flights from Halifax to London Heathrow.
Montréal to Tel Aviv: Resuming Seasonal Route
In addition to the new European routes, Air Canada will resume its seasonal Montréal-Tel Aviv flights starting June 5, 2026. This service, operated onboard a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, will offer non-stop flights every Friday and Sunday. The Tel Aviv route complements Air Canada’s year-round Toronto-Tel Aviv service and enhances the airline’s transatlantic connectivity to the Middle East.
Expanding Air Canada’s Global Reach
Air Canada’s expansion into these new European markets aligns with its broader strategy to increase its international presence. By adding non-stop flights to popular cities like Berlin, Nantes, Brussels, and Ponta Delgada, the airline is enhancing its European network and offering more options for travelers seeking to explore the continent.
With more than 126 global destinations connected through Air Canada’s expanding transatlantic network, the airline is well-positioned to become a key player in international air travel, offering an array of travel options to some of the world’s most desirable destinations.
Conclusion: A Bigger, Better Network for Travelers
Air Canada’s Summer 2026 network expansion is a significant milestone in the airline’s continued growth. The new routes from Montréal, Toronto, and Halifax to Europe will provide greater connectivity for Canadian travelers and strengthen Air Canada’s position as a global leader in the aviation industry. With more than 155,000 seats available across the Atlantic this summer, Air Canada is ready to meet the growing demand for international travel.
