Austria has no reason to join. They’re surrounded by nato countries mostly and aren’t anywhere close to Russia so it seems pointless to me. Same with Ireland too.
The Austrian FM said this morning in German Radio (Deutschlandfunk) that they are not politically neutral but only militarily and that would not change as they are not threatened like the Nordics and also there would be no domestic, public support to abandon the military neutrality in their constitution
The only military threat to Austria could be neutral Switzerland, NATO itself, or mighty Lichtenstein. It has its benefit being in the middle of the continent.

Oh hell no leave them out of NATO.
