They think they should be treated differently to everyone else and are annoyed that while they are still treated differently they are not treated differently enough for their liking.
I swear the police said they can’t bring their stupid tractors this time sort it out police and send them home
We are staying at a place just off Euston road and this was our alarm clock this morning. As ignorant visitors from the US we are puzzled.
Farmers still pissed off they have to pay the same inheritance tax as the plebs.
It’s budget day and the farmers decided to come and protest as they don’t want to pay tax and woke us all up an hour too early 😖
Farmers blocking emergency vehicles and stopping ordinary people getting to work. But apparently it’s okay when they do it.
I mean I tend to agree with them though. Farmers are not cash rich. They have land sure but no real cash. Everything is a loan. Scenario. Farmer dies with £2 million of land, the land is passed onto the family. The family needs to just come up with £800 k to keep the farm.
The farms provide us food. Whereas someone owning a £2 million house in London when they die it can be easily sold, to cover the cost. Farms are tricky. Or the farming family could sell the farm but then Blackrock will just buy it up and soon they will have more land than the King.
So honestly I agree with the farmers.
Although I do not agree with the tractors in London.
Farmers protesting that things are a bit shit after the Brexit that most of them voted for. They’ll all vote Reform at the next election, of course…
There’s so much that labour has achieved that gets zero traction in the media. Its just frustrating. They are far from perfect they’re a darn site better than what we’ve had recently and the UK needs stability
They’ve come to thank the majority taxpayers for keeping this country running
They are bitter they voted against their own interests on Brexit, losing direct subsidy payments and cheap labour from the EU. If they can’t run profitable businesses with a captive market and inelastic demand despite tax breaks, don’t tell me the Range Rovers aren’t running on red diesel, and subsidies, then they should sell out to those who can. Farming isn’t some mystical right handed down from father to son, it’s a business
The guys who never get a day off are having another day off.
Nothing offends the rich more than being treated like everybody else
Farmers protesting that they call the “Family Farm Tax” which is actually a tax on wealthy investors who avoid tax by buying farms, a system that is driving family farms out of business.
Farmers are, once again, turkeys voting for Christmas.
Off to Chalk Farm 🙂
People who, despite already being heavily subsidised by the taxpayer, voted for Brexit to give them advantages over European farmers and enable then to pay cheap labour even less are outraged that billionaires are going to be asked to pay more taxes, or something.
Bunch of rich people who decide one law for me another for thee.
Farmers continue to consider themselves above everybody else and not required to pay tax
I better see the drivers of said vehicles being dragged out and sent to prison or whatever we do with protestors these day!
Selfish farmers wanting preferential treatment after their years of subsidies have finished!
A bunch of (wealthy) landowners do not see why they have to pay huge amounts of inheritance tax on their farms, so they have riled up real, actual farmers who have farms and land for agricultural purposes to protest on their behalf as cannon fodder while they sit on their investment or watch from abroad, because they discovered land is a valuable asset to sit on.
That’s pretty much all this is.
The real farmers are caught in the middle of being a vital industry that’s not hugely profitable without subsidies and support, and relies on generational experience and knowledge to adapt and evolve, while rich entrepreneurs and TV personalities have been buying up farmland as land is valuable in the UK for their own investments. Some do farm (Clarkson) but have openly said they only bought it as it’s a good tax dodge and investment (Clarkson, Dyson).
Multi-Millionaire farmers whinging at paying half the tax as the rest of us.
Just farmers throwing their toys out of the pram about participating in society again
Farmers once again being useful idiots for Farage by the looks of it.
Apparently farmers don’t think they should pay taxes like the rest of us.
Can we support the right to protest for those with differing opinions so as to not turn this comment section into some dumb American culture war
I recommend you tune into the news a couple times a week, so you know why all of a sudden these things are happening…
Whatever your views on the farmers situation and their right to protest the real cringe is the ultra rich getting away with anything they want and letting the rest of us fight amongst ourselves about who gets the least. Ban billionaires.
Looks like tractors.
Many of them voted for Brexit
Farmers complaining and blocking the roads. But because it’s farmers, they are encouraged by certain parties to do so.
Farmers against starmer and I for one stand with them, without out farmers England would have been wiped off the map in ww2. People being l mad just because they got caught in traffic obviously don’t go to London much.
Asking on reddit is how you get propaganda. Try ground news or just research it yourself. Actually knowing reddit youre probably part of the misinformation network here and made this post for the others in your web to post propaganda on.
It’s funny really, government leaves EU, absolutely fucks the incentive structure for producing productive grain for domestic use.
Increases the inheritance tax during the highest cost of living in infrastructure era, meaning that margin of passing the land on for sudden death situations literally will shutter farms by wiping out all available cash flow if there is not substantial war chest funds.
Inheritance tax is annihilating people in nice areas that don’t have jobs that can afford to buy houses outright because houses used to be tens of thousands instead of millions in the nice places, imagine being a 20th generation citizen and not being able to afford a home or stay in the home multiple generations of your family have lived and died in it’s horrible.
I cannot believe the ignorance in these comments.
If the farmers children have to pay inheritance tax they will have to sell the land to pay it off and keep a portion ——–> there is no farming business anymore which requires economies of scale to keep it viable given how capital intensive it is.

Farmers were going to protest today on Budget Day (as Labour want to introduce inheritance tax for farmers). [The Met banned the protest](https://www.fwi.co.uk/news/farm-policy/met-police-block-farmers-budget-day-iht-protest-in-london). Looks like they were not very effective.

Tax dodgers want to continue tax dodging.
I’ve seen the big eared boys on the farm

Interesting stats for both sides of argument, they do produce half of the UKs vegetables and majority meat and dairy but only half of farms are owner occupied the rest are tenanted:

Putin’s money at work.
So many clueless comments (no, I’m not a farmer)
