Petrol retailers told to pass on fuel duty cut

  1. > In addition to this, sales volumes of petrol and diesel are still not back to their pre-pandemic levels

    Cause you’re charging too much

  2. Why are we cutting fuel tax when we’re on our way to an environmental disaster because of its use? Pay for a decrease by taxing profits if the companies more, they’re making more money than ever charging the price they are.

  3. Just another hopeless push from the government to try to show that their clueless policy can make a minuscule difference.

It’s already been passed on – on the day the cut was introduced. It just happened that prices also went up by more than 5p, instantly wiping out any savings.

The government is simply desperately trying to blame everyone but themselves for the cost of living crisis.

  4. Im not sure theres anything to pass on anymore. Oil was ~$115 a barrel when the duty was cut. It then dropped below $100 and has been bouncing around $95 – $110 up until now where its back to $115.

Petrol did drop in that time ~10p a litre and it should have dropped a few pence more. But now theres nothing stopping petrol hitting new ATH’s cut or no cut.

A lot conveniently forget oil is bought in dollars, and the pound has slipped 6.5% in the last month. The price of a barrel might be the same as March but its 6.5% more expensive for us buying it.
