  1. Do other companies not get this kinda stuff ?
I work for the railway and we get so much “training” on topics like this, racism, diversity etc etc. While I get the point and it’s well intentioned parts of it are utterly pointless, and fuck me if you get anything wrong they make you feel like shit.
Easiest example I can remember was about religion should you eat around someone who is fasting. So I said yeah, you want to fast that’s your choice. Me I’m still gonna eat cos working 12 hour shifts in a physical environment without food and water is well daft.
Went down like a fart in a lift.

If it’s going to be rolled out there’s gonna need to be a lot more stuff that’s industry specific.

  2. >Drew Taylor wants to start ‘Niamh’s Law’ – which would make it a legal requirement for staff in customer-facing roles to receive disability awareness training.

    I’m surprised this isn’t already a thing.

  3. I am not sure more training is needed even if it is the right thing to do.

We need to change the opinions and priority put towards training first then we can add more to it

Maybe I have been unlucky but almost every job I have been in mandatory training has been considered a boring chore. It’s not been a priority with so much ‘actual’ work on people rush through it barely paying attention and take the quiz at the end enough times to pass. They don’t ask questions or talk through answers they don’t agree with they just get it done as soon as possible.
