16. I don’t know what’s more baffling; that we’ve somehow lost track of enough illegal immigrants to fill a town the size of Lancaster or Torquay, or that people are still dying on the hill to defend it.

    I count myself as a person with liberal, fairly progressive politics. And I feel like many people who align with my views haven’t realised that if you want people to continue to accept immigration as a general policy, things like this simply *cannot* keep happening. We fix the system now, or get a government down the line that clamps down much harder.

19. People move house multiple times and don’t tell Police/Home Office/DWP/councils. Not a shock, the people involved want to disappear so they don’t get deported and there’s not enough staff at the agencies to keep track of everyone. You cut the services for years, lose staffing levels and things are going to fall through the cracks. The police only have so many officers, people moan about them not attending robberies etc but they have to make a choice of what to do with resources because when articles like this come out they get shit for it.

23. These are the ones we know are missing, now imagine how many we don’t know are. I can’t get my head around why anyone would want illegal immigrants, unless you’re a human trafficker or a slave labourer.
