So I have the shirt, the payment receipt, and the tags intact. The shirt has a defect, so I wanted to return it or get another shirt from the same product line in the same size (basically an exchange). I didn’t notice the defect until I actually wore it and by then I had already cut off the tag (the string that attaches the tag) as I intended to wear it outside! I even reserved that string btw! One salesperson said that they can take it but they don’t have another one of that same product so she told me to go to their other store which had the same product in the same size available. Now this salesperson refused to take the product back because she said the string was cut off!
I asked a friend of mine and she sent me this link: https://www.kkv.fi/kuluttaja-asiat/tietoa-ja-ohjeita-yrityksille/kuluttaja-asiamiehen-linjaukset/virhevastuu-ja-takuu-kulutustavaran-kaupassa/ and also said that I have a right to return!
Can someone please explain to me if I am able to return or exchange it or not?

Material and mamufacturing defects are to be fixed förever
Could you go back to the first store and just make a return? Then use that money to buy a new one from the second store if you still want the item.
Key issue here is ‘defective’. There is no generic right to return but in case of defect, which was present at the time of purchase, you are entitled to full compensation, but the shop is entitled to choose the method.
That is, they can either repair the product, exchange it to a similar non-defective one or cancel the sale and return full paid price. The original shop is responsible for the process and you will need to handle it via them.
