This man lives in fantasy land. I hope he never gets anywhere near actually having power.
He is also charlatan that tried to hypnotise women into having bigger tits. Oddball.
If I was super rich I wouldn’t stay here
of course they are . Hello !
People who build mulity million and billionarie businesses are the tightest people on the plant !
Have you sat in an eight hour meeting with a Billionaire?
Same old rubbish about the wealthy leaving because… we want you to pay more taxes. He’s right, it’s complete claptrap.
The UK has some of the most unbalanced tax pyramids.
The top 10% pays 50% ot the tax. The top 1% pays 25% of the tax. The top 0.1% pays anywhere near 5-10% of the tax.
Do not underestimate the effect a few of these people leaving makes.
I’d rather live in a country where billionaires don’t dictate our quality of life and share it with people who are contributing equally than continue to watch the perpetual decay of our quality of life.
Let them go, we have to show these parasites that they do not get to dictate the terms of our existence like we’re hostages.
Amazon, Google, Starbucks pay £0.00 corporation tax in the UK. Through loopholes our government are too afraid to challenge. Billions put into those companies and nothing being put back in. If you’re defending these companies, you’re a mug because they’re robbing **you**.
What super rich are leaving? We heard the same at the last budget too and over the last 12 months the amount of wealthy individuals leaving the country was down 9%. Wealthy individuals are not static either and often move about for various reasons all the time. Even with this budget, our tax rates on the super rich are still very competitive and most operate in such a way that they pay a very small % of their income in tax anyway. We are still a very good country to accumulate wealth in. We had wealth taxes before to the tune of 90%, i am not saying we should ever increase it to those historic levels but i do think we should be thinking about some form of wealth tax. The increase in council tax on £2m is a good start and builds the foundations. You need to speculate to accumulate and we have learned from the last 15 years of cuts and underfunding that you can not cut your way to growth.
I’m not super rich…or rich at all…and if I could, I’d leave. Why wouldn’t the super rich leave?
I make less than the UK average. I want to leave. Struggling just to get by. Every year I’m getting screwed over by fiscal drag and wage compression. If I could afford to leave, I would.
The billionaire class own the papers and it seems a lot of accounts here. Stay course and tax the rich.
Brain the size of a pea makes dogmatic assertions based on fantasy, more from the greens at 12
Zack ‘Dave Paulden’ Polanski is rather a skilled leader for the greens. I had him wrong.
He knows there’s space for the ‘nice/decent’ party for the middle (and the downwardly mobile former middle ) class. We have a lot of not terribly bright arts graduates in this country.
These people have some vague ideas that’s there’s this lovely, rainbow and puppies world that’s just in reach and – surprisingly – achievable through simple means. “Tax the rich.” ok but what about the – “no, tax the rich”. “Just stop oil” is another example of this.
Polanski is giving his base what they want – slogans and bite size concepts. He’s not dissimilar to Farage in this regard.
Corbyn fulfilled this role before.
This is how globalism works.
It’s funny how globalists are shocked or cannot foresee the problems.
There’s no point in being super rich if you’re surrounded by other super rich people, the money they’re saving in tax will all go on the extortionate prices they’re going to have to pay for everything else.
*Source I live in London, work in Kensington and have been to Monaco and Dubai.
Even if it wasn’t absurd and they did leave, that would leave behind a void that others would fill, and they would be paying their fair share. So although the initial shock would be bad, it would be a good thing in the long run
How many days in a row do we have to explain why a wealth tax doesn’t work to the -10 IQ users of UK subs?
Tax the rich to pay the debt owned by the super rich so we can borrow more money from the ultra rich. Yeah sounds like a good idea
I earn a decent amount, well into the 40% bracket when it passes the threshold and I’m thinking of fucking off somewhere else.
I am not sure if anyone cares what that silly sausage thinks.
Billionaires trying to say any form of (super) wealth tax doesn’t work and that we should instead focus on everyone else would be funny if it wasn’t for the fact that so many bloody idiots fall for it and are more than happy to be a doormat for the rich just in the pathetic hope they’ll one day also be rich lol
At the end of the day, it depends on the scale of it. We should introduce a wealth tax that’s absurdly low, then slowly increase it once we’ve seen the repercussions.
If anyone thinks a billionaire is leaving the country, their companys HQ, their family, their friends, etc, over a miniscule amount of tax are insane.
Really? If I could, I would, and I’m not even close to being rich, let alone super rich. The country is blatantly on a decline. Increasing debt, record taxes, record and increasing benefits, a mess of a justice system, stubborn inflation. And a government whose only plan is “more of the same.”
It is absurd but it’s unfortunately what will happen because other places exist where they can make ridiculous amounts of money and not get taxed loads.
It’s not absurd. It’s a well established fact. It’s mostly about the removal of the non-dom tax, which was, historically, a huge advantage for wealthy foreigners, who could avoid tax on their full worldwide income. Without that advantage, there are nicer places to live with lower marginal tax rates.
Globalism works both ways. The Green Party want open borders. To the left it’s racist to be nationalist or patriotic. So if people have been bullied into having no loyalty for this country, why would they voluntarily pay more to live in this hellhole when they can pay way less tax while living in some hot paradise
The Super Rich dont live anywhere, they have yachts and houses in places, but seem to live a nomadic lifestyle.
There are so many places for the super wealthy to already live that either have low taxes (Switzerland) or no taxes (Monaco). If they are so keen to move to avoid paying taxes, they would have already.
He may very well think it is absurd, but they do seem to be leaving.
If you help someone cheat, they will inevitably cheat on you, the super rich are far too mobile.
Idk about about billionaires, but my wife worked a lot with people who was in that 0.1% of super high earners, a lot of then left for Dubai and Singapore lately.
It really is absurd. If they’re really wealthy (Im talking billionaires and anyone with over, say, £50m) they should recognise they’re lucky to be in a privileged position and pay the damn taxes. Imagine having the means to help thousands, millions of other people and taking it all off in a huff because people are asking you to help the country out when we’re in this rut.
There needs to be a way to claw back money too. Like, for rxample, those COVID contracts. Why don’t we start with the 10bn from track and trace?
i’ll probably get downvoted for this but 🤷♀️. From each according to his ability to each according to his needs.
Tons of people want to leave not just the super rich.
