  3. Farmers shouldn’t be blocking roads and intimidating people with heavy machinery everytime they demand we give them more money. They are a business and they need to pay taxes and if they don’t like it they can sell up and go do something else. We subsidise the hell out of these people while they pollute our rivers and destroy our environment with pesticides, all so they can produce uncompetitive products and dodge taxes.

  5. All they want to do is pass down millions of pounds of assets, homes, and businesses to their children with zero tax to pay. 

    Why would an honest democratic nation be against enormous generational wealth?!

    It’s not as if all our tax pays to keep their businesses a float.

  9. The government really should have put an exemption in for farmers who actually farm, it wouldn’t have been that difficult. Just require proof that the parent has done x years of actual farming (rather than just owning the farm) and require the beneficiaries to do y years of farming after they inherit the property.

  10. How many farms would this actually apply to and would the value of farmland decrease if it becomes a less attractive tax loophole?

  11. We can’t just allow farmers to hold us to ransom by blocking the roads and obstructing the national infrastructure. I’m getting sick of them disrupting the lives of hard working people.

  12. Anyone against the farmers probably has zero understanding of how a farm operates.

    Take a few minutes to learn. Ask a chat bot about farm profits, return on investment etc and you will see that this tax is an attack on farming.

    In my opinion, it’s about the centralisation of food production. Once only corporations can generate food profitably, we will be completely powerless. Much like supermarkets have a monopoly already.

    Do we really want to be at the mercy of giant corporations?

  13. Are these your average farmers or the investment chaps protesting, I seemed to remember one protester bought farmland after retiring from KPMG, though he talked like it was held for generations.

    I can guarantee you every single person in that cheering crowd was cheering for themselves. Farmers are so out of touch with the general public, and vastly overestimate the support for their tantrums

  20. Maybe they should get a real job instead of providing no value, and offer something the British people wants, like youtuber, day trader, or astrologer.
