They now seem to be targeting his wife Başak Demirtaş, finding some sort of procedural error in documents to charge her.
EDIT: Seems this post is getting brigaded..
tl;dr:
>According to her legal team, the teacher was charged with fraud because a doctor’s note for five days of medical leave from work was issued during an appointment on 11 December 2015, but erroneously dated as 14 December, four days later.
ummmm, how many years of prison did they give her for that?
2.5
also: you can rewrite the number 1 into 4 on paper, so it could have been a fraud, anyway.
“The sentence of [Demirtaş] to 2.5 years of prison for a mere clerical error concerning a medical record is appalling and seems beyond common sense. It just looks so political. It gives the measure of the worrying state of Turkish judiciary,” Nacho Sánchez Amor, the European parliament’s rapporteur on Turkey, said on Twitter.
This is why literally noone in Turkey gives a shit about what Eu thinks anymore. At this point almost everything our state do is political yet the Eu is the same when it comes to Turkey.
The reality is, it has nothing to do with typo, her lawyer just uses this 3 days typo just to change the reality. She took 774 days medical report (wtf?) between 2004-2015, she basicly did not work half the time she was supposed to.Since it is a medical report and she works for state she basicly got paid full. If you think that’s normal and not a crime i don’t know what it is. Man she must feel good travelling to France during the period she supposed to be ill and when you get caught doing it you have EU media and corrupt EU politicians to back you up.

This is an update to [Selahattin Demirtaş](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Selahattin_Demirta%C5%9F) (a Kurdish politician who was leader of the 3rd largest party in turkey) who has been imprisoned since 2016. The [EU has repeatedly told Turkey to release him](https://www.reuters.com/article/us-turkey-echr-demirtas-idUSKBN28W1PJ) as it’s quite obviously a political imprisonment hence why it’s related to this sub as turkey foreign relations with EU.
