Five new flexible gas turbine units were commissioned in the PPC Group’s power plants on Rhodes and Crete during the summer. Additionally, another gas turbine is scheduled to begin operation on Chios before the end of the year, increasing the total additional installed capacity of the new units to over 220 megawatts (MW).
Meanwhile, the installation of two new gas turbine units with a combined capacity of 29 MW is progressing in Lesvos, with trial operation expected to begin in early 2026. Furthermore, two new gas turbine units were commissioned in Santorini in December 2024.
The gas turbines operate on two types of fuel, natural gas and diesel (LFO), which has replaced heavy fuel oil (HFO).
The Group’s plan for the coming year includes two additional projects in Chios and Soroni, Rhodes, where existing units will be replaced by new gas turbine units compliant with European Union and Greek environmental legislation.
