Think before you spend 240.- on a pair of on shoes

  1. My favorite part:

    > Doch damals wie heute wollte keiner der Firmenchefs vor die Kamera. On schrieb lediglich: «Wir möchten uns hierzu nicht weiter äussern.»

The more I read about them the less I like them.

This combined with the fact that they produce in third world countries, brand themselves as super-swiss and pay themselves mega high salaries is just sad.

  2. Think before you spend 240.- on a pair of shoes.

Thats a huge amount of money for shoes in no way justifyable for shoes.

  3. I have those Air Pegasus 38 shoes that are similar to the ones in the test. They rated them “insufficient”.

In my opinion, they are the most comfortable shoes I ever had. I think I had them for like 2/3 of a year now and there are no issues with durability for me – and I wear them almost daily. The price was 80€.

I don’t think this test should be taken too seriously, apart maybe from getting a sense of the durability and build quality.

  4. I have the waterproof ones as I couldn’t really find any other good waterproof shoes at the time and they’re still going strong a couple of years later. I can’t comment on the other models but I’m happy with mine. Now I wonder how much I spent, honestly can’t remember.

  5. I wonder why they tested the Adidas Ultraboost DNA instead of the Adidas Ultraboost 21/22. The DNA is more of a lifestyle shoe marketed as a running shoe, but not really used as such in my opinion.

  6. Usually I buy discount models from Mizuno max for 80 and I am really happy with them. Run 1000km and after use them for walking :))

  7. ON sells for considerably less abroad, but Swiss people love spending too much for a ‘Swiss’ product. Like a ‘Swiss Edition VW Golf’. Like what country does that beside Switzerland? Label things ‘Swiss edition’ and Swiss people will pay a premium.

I have a Siemens made in Germany, ‘Swiss Edition’ dishwasher. It’s was ~25% more expensive than the ‘non Swiss’ version. And there is no difference what so ever beside the fact the 1hour program on the non Swiss version is called ‘Swiss Express’ on mine.

I’m renting so I had no choice in the device placed, but it shows how retarded the Swiss market is for ‘Swiss’ products. Wether they actually are Swiss, or not. lol

  8. I always have and always will hate Kassensturz Tests. They seem to have specialized in missleading product tests, with uneven test contenders…

  10. My experience with ON went from good in 2018 to terrible in 2021. Imo people who buy ON have either zero issues spending 240 for a mediocre running shoe or don’t run with them.

I run every year 1’100-1’200Km. The quality of ON significantly decreased during that time. They pinnacle of arrogance was that they refused to exchange a shoe which was less than 2 months old and had with a ripped “cloud”, after a little more than maybe 30Km of track running.

Let alone that the people I know who work there are exploited to no end.

  11. Hang on a second, please. I looked through the article, and the underlying data table. The On (monster) shoe came second in that grouping among all shoes behind that 361 degrees shoe which came first.

    What am I missing ?

  12. The clever way is to TEST them yourself, if you’re using them for sports. Most runners have to try various shoes until they find the ones that are the most suitable, and it’s never about money.

  13. This is very interesting.

I wonder how they compare to Kybun. My whole family has Kybuns. We love them, but they are super expensive.

  14. We have discovered the power of branding, everyone, come quick, have a look.

    Next on on Captain obvious:

Logos matter and sky still up.

    /mindblown

  15. Recently paid 300 CHF for the Haix Ranger GSG9X. I by no means refuse to pay for shoes if theyre worth the price. The moment i buy sports shoes like these, i dont go above 80

  16. I never understand why anyone buys these. Ugly af and 100.- Nike Free are better quality and way more comfortable

  17. I don’t really get why everyone is complaining about On, and no one about ASICS or Nike that had considerably worst votes and costs maybe 10 chf less then On. Sure, maybe for less you can find something with same quality, but in general I would not say that their quality is terrible, c’mon those shoes are in the third place! And if we consider that on is relatively new company, that has not yet scaled to the dimension of Nike, Adidas and Nike, for sure some costs are higher for them

  18. Well, I have an Asics Shoe. Pls, don’t ask which modell. I tried on different Shoes and took the best shoe for me. Fits it well? How is the support on these? And the Asics was the best. On these I fell like I walk on Clouds. On Shoe was so unconfortable… The whole shoe is hard and not good at all.

I payed about 180CHF… Now I’m waiting, how long the shoe is going to be okay xD
