  1. Jon Harley, defending, said that Smith was a teenager himself, at the start of the abuse, and that he had difficulties with his own sexual identity at the time. A pre-sentence report stated: “It may be that the defendant was exploring his own sexuality.”

How the fuck can you even say that with a straight face ?
“Your honour my client nonced kids because he thought he might be gay” full on Kevin Spacey defence.

Also one of the most noncey looking fuckers I’ve ever seen in my life.

  2. Why does it need to say innocent school boys in the headline? What would they have needed to be guilty of for this to be ok?

  3. It’s good they are starting to catch these people. A lot of them got away with it for too long. It’s hard to look at these things but you really have to and not ignore it. Even if they are not as gross as this guy (many are charming and friendly), they are still criminals who need punishment and also help.

  4. I’m straight so I can’t speak from experience but I’d imagine people from the gay community hearing a nonce using excuses like this must be fucking infuriating

On the day a gay man came out in football for the first time everyone going ‘well it doesn’t surprise me any more because homophobia’s basically dead’ – we have this massive example of homophobia in one of our nation’s courts. Having lived with the comparison between gay men and podophiles since I came out as a teenager, it’s a stereotype that needs to die and makes the process of coming out so much more difficult for many of us.

This man in no way belongs to the LGB community.

  6. I’m amazed they were found guilty being a Tory and all.

Would thought the establishment would step in to save them.
