Id chalk this up to a rise in unprotected sex. I’ve seen it more and more frequently among younger folk that they don’t know how protection works or that it does. Usually in the same conversation where they learn they have an STI
You mean Brazilians and Africans had the highest rate of HIV infections, they just happened to be here when diagnosed. Its nothing to do with ireland or irish people, this is just a downstream effect of one of the highest levels of inward migration in the EU.

Aren’t most of our new diagnoses people from abroad who are HIV+ arriving to Ireland? Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but far as I’m aware, transmissions in Ireland remain quite low.
Though, one should never let a good story go to waste. There has to be plans made to make PrEP more easily available. It’s absolutely ridiculous trying to secure PrEP in Ireland (especially with how readily available it is in other countries – and how effective it is in reducing transmissions).
escort ireland.
Theres similar rise in other diseases like scabies and TB. Not really stuff that we have in Ireland much any more until recently.

Why is there a significant waiting list for PrEP ffs?!
There’s a more detailed report on the Irish Medical Times: [https://www.imt.ie/news/ireland-has-second-highest-levels-of-hiv-per-capita-in-europe-new-report-finds-28-11-2025/](https://www.imt.ie/news/ireland-has-second-highest-levels-of-hiv-per-capita-in-europe-new-report-finds-28-11-2025/)
