WANA (Nov 29) – Iran’s Motorcycle and Automobile Federation has formally objected to the use of an incorrect name for the Persian Gulf in media content attributed to the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), calling for an immediate correction and adherence to internationally recognized geographical names.

The federation expressed regret over the use of an incorrect term in reference to the historic and official name of the Persian Gulf in one of the FIA-related media materials, stating that such a mistake contradicts professional reporting standards and internationally accepted norms.

According to verified United Nations documents, authoritative global sources, and well-established historical records, “Persian Gulf” is the only valid and accurate name for this body of water. Based on this, Iran’s federation has sent an official letter to the FIA requesting that the error be corrected across all media platforms and that proper care be taken to use accurate geographical names in future publications.

The Motorcycle and Automobile Federation of the Islamic Republic of Iran emphasized its commitment to maintaining professional relations and constructive cooperation with the FIA, while also affirming that it will continue to safeguard internationally registered and official names through administrative, legal, and diplomatic channels.
