  1. Yes turns out a 4 hour journey in a black cab is insanely expensive who would’ve guessed 😂.

(Could probably flag down a few uber eats drivers and bung them £50 cash each they’d take you round the same tour on the back of the mopeds – feel free to use this hack to save £200 for a family of 4)

  2. 4 hours, 6 passengers, £16 per hour per passenger. Sounds reasonable to me if it was a glass topped/open top. The best view will be from front seat

  3. Average price is 250 for four hours, but each driver/customer can negotiate any price

  4. This is such a fucking shit idea it’s central London… Walk?

  5. Maybe it’s just me but I would assume asking a taxi to take me on a tour of the city would be expensive in any city I went to.

  6. You have a personalised tour by a knowledgable driver, you are safe and comfortable, you can stop when you want, you can ask questions, they can drop you off and pick you up where you want.

If you cant afford it or don’t see the value in it fine, its not for you. The fact it exists at this price point and according to the article gets positive reviews means people are happy to pay that. If no-one was paying that it would be cheaper or wouldn’t exist.

Not sure why there is a news article about people complaining about something they don’t have to do.

“Tourist baulks at insane price of staying at the Ritz in London, Travelodge available at a fraction of the cost”

“Londoner baulks at insane price of the Savoy Grill beef wellington, sausage rolls at Greggs are a fraction of the price”

  7. The best thing about this is you can just hop on a London Bus for £1.50 an hour and get a better view

  8. Honestly, the money is better off with the cab driver than any tourist who is willing to spend hundreds of pounds on something so silly

  9. Considering a private tour with a chauffeured car for 4 hours will be at least £450, maybe up to around £650 depending on who you book it with, this is not outwith the standards for that kind of tour.

  10. 4 hour tour for £400, ie £100 per hour incl fuel … for ip to 6 people, aint that bad after all. And if it is too much, dont book it and take the tube. No?

  11. The price is definitely wild, but the real takeaway is that this is a walking city. You’d see more of the festive atmosphere and the little details on foot anyway. That Uber Eats moped idea is hilarious and honestly highlights how over-the-top the cab tour is. Sometimes the best London experiences are the ones that don’t cost a fortune.

  12. I would not expect anything else :-)! Of course it would cost that much… In this business, it is possibly more profitable to find one idiot who coughs up £400 than 5 who cough up £80, but the biggest winner is ES, who wrote/created AI slop clickbait “article” and hovers up all the outraged eyeballs advert traffic

  13. You’re telling me that black cabs are expensive? In other news water is wet.
