A Ukrainian ground drone armed with a Browning M2 machine gun engaged a Russian “turtle tank” in a direct frontal encounter on the frontline.

According to reports, soldiers of the 5th Separate Assault Brigade were conducting tests of the unmanned ground platform during a mission on the front line when a Russian armoured vehicle unexpectedly appeared.

  1. Unfortunately, like shooting a pea shooter at a elephant.

  2. Hopefully it did some damage, but the video would imply it didn’t.

  3. Nice, now give it some AT rockets, and on the back some AA missiles, and what if we give it A-10 gun instead of Browning? And a large radar on the back? Also some space for deployment of team of 5-6 droids. And also some FPV drones for protection and scouting. Bit of AI and bit of human operator

  4. It needs a large self destruction slash anti armor charge on it. The cost of the drone must be way less than a manned armored vehicle.

  5. A .50cal is effective against the ancient mtlb, the armor is really thin on that tank, even on the front. Anyone who has served with this tank knows how poorly protected it is against literally anything.

  6. Probably could have tracked that tank if it is able to aim precisely enough.

  7. Mobility kill is very likely. It didn’t even try to squish the tracked drone. So at a minimum the eye ports and sensors for the driver were likely done. Additional once it started hitting the rear armor that is the thinnest part of any armored vehicle and the chances of a mobility kill are magnified. Engine parts don’t like 50 caliber Armor piercing rounds much.

The game changer here is anyone safe from the direct fire of that tank can now pull an Audie Murphy and go toe to toe at close range with little fear

  8. Badass, it’s like in the movie Maximum Overdrive.

  9. Looks like it is very hard to see what you shot with those visuals. Target was 20 meter away and I could not see it. It needs to shot well at a range of 200 meter though.

  10. at 0:32-0:33 it looks like a tank with an mine clearer raised up.
    sadly no semi soft target

  11. In my view, this looks like a MT-LB, due to not wide tracks, and the steep front, that goes quite high. If you look at all the T variants, they all have a much lower, and angled down front. But the quality may fool me.

My other assessment, is that the driver is either confused, concussed or dead. As I would presume, it would have gone full throttle if it took fire like that. So maybe just the clutch that is driving it. And with a MT-LB I would also assume 50. would have penetrated, multiple times even with just ordinary non AP rounds., at this range. Hopefully we get a follow up, report. As this is quite interesting event.
