Actually, the current plans for the metro are only a fraction of what’s needed.
They don’t go to the same place. Sure there’s a road to Cork, why would you want one to Galway as well?
Majority of the city is begging for fast reliable public transport. These people will have links to two of the best public transport lines in the city and they are not happy. WTF.
Not everything is about you, idiots.

Yes. Fucking morons
The listing of names and going to ask their opinions is the type of journalism that was needed here. If you’re going to publicly declare your opposition and hold up critical infrastructure that the vast majority of the public want, you should be able to stand over it.
Sounds like some people have too much time on their hands. I’d just exclude the stop and just go through it.
The first TD/Party to publicly tell these clowns to fuck off gets my vote next time.
At busy times its impossible to get on at the current stop. Proving the need for more public transport in the area
A handful of people like this shouldn’t be allowed to stand in the way of such vital and necessary infrastructure.
We’re one of the few countries in Europe without a metro system for crying out loud and day in, day out Dublin is in absolute gridlock.
It’s the bare minimum of what we need to be honest.
These nimbys are going to love it when round 2 of construction begins to connect the metro line between Charlemont and the Green Luas Line.
Sounds like peoples from Ranelagh are entitled, wankers. No wonder this country is so far behind in infrastructure when we live amongst such selfish, short-sighted idiots.
I’m from Ranelagh and I despise these fuckers. They think they’re part of some kind of Irish aristocracy just because they had the wherewithal to buy a place at an opportune time. These selfish fuckers do not represent us.
Fkn Southsiders. The North side where most of industry is in Dublin has nothing.
Don’t ask the opinion of morons. Just say this is it and build the fucking thing. If it serves people then ignore objections
The 3 most damaging form of vandalism you can do in Ireland is needlessly hold up critical infrastructure, destroy nature, and let buildings go derelict.
Sadly this government lets these types of vandals do whatever they like
One of these people is going to run for office aren’t they?!
Backwards ass thinking will stop us from growing in the next few decades while the coffin dodging objectors keep blocking public transport infrastructure.
YOU guys have a Luas. The residents of Sword don’t.
These people are such dopey cunts. They are also the reason the green line isn’t being upgraded to a metro passed charlemont
I’m sorry but as someone who takes the green line basically everyday, when I get on at my stop it’s pretty busy, so by the time I get to Ranelagh the Luas is absolutely packed at peak times. It’s gotten pretty chaotic recently as well. There is absolutely a need for metro in Ranelagh to take some pressure off of the Luas
Ah it’s exactly like the sketch Joe.ie did
who’s we, there is hundreds of thousands of people on the North side who have no rail connection. selfish wankers living in their bubble.
While a financial risk will put off a lot of people it won’t stop it, we really need a ln alternative to the slow processes today or to ban them which seems anti democratic in some ways but infrastructure like this will be in place for 100+ years and carry millions of people in that time and we’re allowing a small few stop of delay it by decades.. crazy
Im convinced some of these fuckers lodge complaints because its the only bit of power and agency they have in their lives to try and stop projects
Dublin south East has the best public transport in the country. the dart, an actual dedicated luas line not using shared roads, great bus lanes. And the fuckers still complain when they given more.
Can locals sign a petition in favour of the metro? Counter the NIMBYs?
We really need to change our laws to stop anybody holding up public infrastructure projects. It’s impossible to progress if everyone has a say. Other European countries don’t have this for a reason
Doctors, barristers, and CEOs living in multi million euro homes, they have zero interest in public transport for the peasants
I swear to god, im going to introduce a cinderblock to my own head if these NIMBYs actually get what they want
I know the headline is rage bait, but I also have met so many people that think like this and that they have to confronted. Why am I finding myself so annoyed?
I think I read the article relating to this morning in the paper (different headline , it lists out a lot of residents. There was a lot of exactly who would expect. The Failte Ireland climate action and sustainability officer is one that raised my eyebrow. The reasons for the objection are not listed yet but it will probably be to do with disruption while construction is happening.
I don’t get the logic here. I know a few speculators who will buy land or property in areas where they predict that future transport connections will be built. Property and land prices soar where there are good metro connections.
“we have the luas, so do we need a metro?!!?” People who never rode the luas and who would never ride the metro
Tell me you’ve never needed public transportation without telling me
I think we need a large tax on houses valued over €1m to help pay for delays in said metro.
Ah so we are ok, and f*** the rest of you. Oh how noble the citizens of this fine Republic are….
Given the Luas doesn’t go to the fucking airport, Yes!
“Sure I just take the X5 to the airport”
What a pack of wankers
Chauncey and Margaret get the driver to take them places, why can’t everyone else
Weekend walking tours around Dartmouth Square, if they’re so afraid of poors in the area, let’s give them a tidal wave.
I swear it’s straight out of a Ross O’Carroll Kelly novel.
“We” don’t all have the Luas, you muppets.
If you ever thought who’s still voting for FF/FG this is exhibit A
The government should ask them would they prefer if their properties were subject to a CPO. The government can happily buy them out at whatever value theY assigned to their house for the recent LPT.
Compulsory purchase order all those gafs and make a lovely terminal station the square
Fuck em
