From January to August, 165 such applications were received from citizens of Somalia, including 55 in May.
In the first eight months of this year, 75 initial applications for international protection were submitted by citizens of Tajikistan, while citizens of Morocco and Ethiopia submitted 70 each.
In total, from January to August of this year, 790 initial applications for international protection were received from citizens of third countries. More than 600 of them were submitted by men.
A person who has left their country of origin and believes that they are threatened with serious harm – persecution, human rights violations, war – and is seeking safety in another country can apply for international protection.
