The Initiative was written by the most braindead people in existance.
If the proposal simply said “military service for women, yes or no” I am not going to say it would have passed (it wouldn’t) but it would have been closer.
As it is, this was the most nonsensical, idiotic proposal ever written in regards to military service.
“We want equal rights!”
“Ok. Since males need to have mandatory service, we’ll apply it to woman as well.”
“Not those rights!”
What’s the deal here Swiss boys? Is it as clear cut as the headline suggests?
Every year I get to come back see the boys for a month, shoot, blow shit up, get drunk and forget the rest. Then be happy to be back in civilian life. We don’t need our women following us there as well, it gives us a good break
Women voting against it and simps voting for to support them. Men should have never voted to allow them to vote in the 70s
Anyone who wants this has never had to carry a womans backpack during a march

I mean it’s probably for the best. I’m all for equality but if an actual war broke out I’d rather not get killed by a Susan in friendly fire.She’s unpredictable at the best of times.
Why don’t they just also do the same vote for men as well? Like, it would probably fail cuz the old people who’ve already served will force the young men to serve, but yk, just for funsies since that’s what voting is there
Very good decision. Women and men are not the same. National defense is a man’s job, anyone who thinks otherwise and wants their women to protect the country is just a wimp.
The most useless army im the world refuse to change.
We made a big mistake in 1971
in the same swing, they also voted against inheritance taxation of inheritances above 54 million €
Why do the Swiss need an army?? It’s not like they’re fighting anyone off with those little knives of theirs and anyway they’ll just offer to hoarde all the stolen gold for both sides so long as they get left alone again. It’s a tried and tested tactic.
I’m neither Swiss nor female, but I want one Stgw 90.
