Unbelievably, the British submission actually looks edible.
having had some bangup thankgiving dinners and the sloppiest foulest sunday roast imaginable around an ex’s parents (not ex parent, though I’d probably have considered it) house (Listen you have no idea, no roast potatoes, cold mash the consistency of soup, all blanketed in a mix of lettuce with the lifespan of a PM’s term these days) it’s less about the name more about the quality of the nosh on offer.
Of course I feel bad for everyone who didn’t have my dad’s roast dinner. Not sure what the rest of you are doing to cope.
Moved to the US three years ago. Their miserable excuse for gravy is absolutely tragic. For a start, it’s WHITE by default.
I’ve seen pictures of Sunday roasts that look just as grim as that thanksgiving dinner.
Sweet potato mash is good, but don’t fancy the white stuff in the bottom left of the American one.
you gotta feel for america right now, they are like a post divorce man in his 50s trying to figure out how the fuck the oven works.
And Yanks have the gall to mock our beige food smh
That Sunday roast would go right in me ol’ gob. What a plate!
What is that beige mush on the right?🙈😬🤢
That roast does look incredible but tbf it looks better many of the roasts you actually find in pubs
Thanksgiving dinner looks like it’s just various piles of slop.
A good Sunday roast is second to no meat dish on the planet
And they only have it once a year, we get ours every Sunday
Americans only mock British food because they’re jealous
Why are American “gravy’s” so beige and unappetizing
Not to sound ungrateful but i would not be giving thanks for the RHS
I’m American and all our Thanksgiving food doesn’t look like that…some of us actually season our food
always surprises me when I remember most countries don’t have roast dinner every week
pretty cherry-picky with the choice of images here. i’d say sunday roast is easier to get right than thanksgiving dinner, but thanksgiving dinner has a higher ceiling of quality
There’s a reason we only the Thanksgiving meal at Thanksgiving.
Plenty of British food is ugly but good.
Sunday roast slaps though.
Why does the plate on the right have inedible food on it?
For me it’s the lack of texture in American thanksgiving meals, it’s all
Mushy
nice
WTF is that on the right?
Lol, nobody eats that thing on the right once you have left home, and start cooking for yourself.
We had smoked brisket, kimchi collard greens, bacon fat corn bread, candied carrots, a dry champagne, and a red pommard.
All depends on who’s family is making either plate.
The Roast dinner is the king of dinners and the Christmas roast dinner is the king of roast dinners.
Its thanksgiving ever Sunday in the uk 😂
Im sure it would depend on the quality. A proper homemade southern American thanksgiving scran will be better than a mid sunday roast.
Crazy how Americans will call our food ‘Beige’ but that is quite literally the most Beige and bland looking dish I’ve seen. They will never beat us in roast dinners.
Every day of the week, twice on Sunday. No pun intended

you have to make allowances for colonials with no real history, just habits
The hell is that abomination on the right?
Why is Thanksgiving dinner so *beige* and so _wet_? It looks like someone upended various jars of baby food onto a plate.Â
This years theme is beige!
Always has been.
I agree but it looks like they’ve purposefully chosen a shit looking thanksgiving
Thanksgiving should be full of veg that’s native to America surely, not that beige stuff.
I do really want to try the marshmallow yams though.
But we have it every Sunday!
I know British food gets a bad rep but hearing about canned green bean casserole with tinned soup, marshmallow and sugar on sweet potatoes, and lime jelly salad with weird veg in like this one: https://louisianawomanblog.com/2018/12/21/congealed-salad-lime-or-cherry-flavored/#tasty-recipes-6455-jump-target
