November 29 brought a record for Spain’s EV market: 1,538 new electric cars were registered in a single day—the highest tally ever recorded in the country. BYD topped the chart with 439 vehicles in 24 hours. Combined with Tesla’s 1,524 sales for the month, the two brands now command 33.9% of the segment, sketching out a new duopoly in Spain.The Tesla Model 3 finished November as the clear best-seller with 1,264 units, followed by three BYD entries—Dolphin Surf, Atto 2, and Seal. The top ten also featured the Kia EV3, Jeep Avenger, and Tesla Model Y. When Model 3 leads the pack and multiple BYD models cluster near the front, it signals that these two tech-driven players are setting the pace not just by brand share but on a model-by-model basis.These record figures show that electrification in Spain has moved beyond the niche stage. Demand is outpacing expectations, dealer networks are streamlining logistics, and the products themselves are becoming more competitive. In this environment, established European manufacturers are losing momentum, while Chinese brands are expanding fast. BYD and Leapmotor accounted for almost all of the growth, and Chinese marques as a whole reached a 24.9% share of the market.
