Cyprus was Ancient Greek in ancient times, then it became part of The Macedonian empire (still Greek), then it was part of the Ptolemaic Kingdom (still Greek), then it became part of Byzantium, then it became crusader territory, under the Kingdom of Cyprus, after that it was occupied by the Venetians, then the Turks, then the British, then it became independent.
The first inhabitants where the Mycenaean Greeks and many Anatolian and mid eastern people.

This is typical colonial bullshit. Who was already there when the Ottomans invaded, massmurdered and occupied the island for 350 years? The Greek Cypriots. Who has lived in Cyprus, founded every single city and defended her against every invader who occupied her the past 3500 years? The Greek Cypriots. Tatar is talking from a colonialist point of view (and an extremist nationalistic one too…). Whoever is native doesn’t matter, because if you invade and enslave the natives that land is “yours” now. To a native it doesn’t matter how many empires invade you, how many that kills you, how long you are enslaved… that land is still yours. You find the same mindset among the white colonialists in America vs Natives and not far from us Israel vs Palestine. The saddest part about all of this is that there’s a big chance Tatar descends from enslaved, raped and assimilated Greek Cypriots/Latin Cypriots like the majority of Turkish Cypriots/turkish speaking Cypriots. Science has already proven this.

I was reading a turkish article the other week, they were showing some old artifacts, they were saying these artifacts were from their ‘ancestors’- these artifacts had “ancient Greek” written on them- so their ancestors are “Greek”? Does he not know Turkey was Greek? or at least most of Tutkey was!
