Sad to hear, really enjoyed his Great House Revival Show
Very sad. I liked the shows this fella presented.
Kinda young nowadays! Sad, he seemed like a nice man
Very sad news. I loved his shows.
jesus, he always seemed in rude health.
Oh no, I love his contrarian takes and the way he’d wind up Amanda on Home of the Year.
When I do watch RTÉ, it would typically only be a show Hugh was involved in. Seemed like an intelligent and witty person, who’s presence on screen was a delight for all to watch. Awful, and 68 is no age to go at.
Sad day – very surprised to hear that!
This is so so sad. Out of all the home restoration shows on RTE Hugh was head and shoulders above the rest of the hosts and experts.
He was excellent on My bungalow bliss, the great house revival and Home of the Year.
RTE and Ireland have lost a national treasure.
Really sad to hear this. He was such a joy to watch. Sincerest condolences to his husband and family. May he rest in peace.
Very sad. Must have been a heart problem
Ah Jesus, I only very occasionally see RTE shows but Hugh always seemed a warm, comforting presence. RIP.
I heard him on the radio only a few weeks ago. Always an informed & entertaining speaker. Far too young to pass. RIP.
Hugh was a brilliant architect, constructive critic and entertaining presenter. We will be sadly missed by many.
Oh that’s awful news. 68 is still so very young.
Such sad news 😞
Very sad, he was no age and leaves behind a husband. I really liked his stuff. RIP
Loved his work. R.I.P. Hugh
Terrible news, 68 is so young these days. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a n-anam.
noooooo he was such a treasure
Very sad and unexpected news. That show will not be the same without him. He was the core of it. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a n-anam.
Noooooo. I love him. I just loved “The Great House Revival.” Small budgets with passionate renovators. Also ‘ My Bungalow Bliss.”
He had such a passion for the restoration of old buildings, as opposed to just sticking a glass box on the side.
Very sad altogether. He was a fantastic personality compared to a very dull roaster in RTE. He’ll be massively missed.
May he forever rest in the great big homeowner’s favourite spot in the sky ♥️
that’s sad, he seemed like a nice person, also surprised he was 68, he looked a bit younger to me
Was watching him on tv last night, I’m so sorry to hear this. Always enjoyed hearing his knowledge and his wit. Condolences to his husband and family
Did a lot of work with him at different events for work. He was an incredible man. His passion and enthusiasm for his work and for others innovation bounced off the walls.
Is the coffin a square box?
Met him a few times, a gent. Glad he promoted men’s mental health when he could. Some loss. RIP Hugh.
Shocked he lived around the corner from me , him and Martin where regular in the pub I work in they where due to move into there house that they had been building for the last year this week
Shame, seemed like an intelligent, positive person
Ah no. I genuinely liked him on the telly in the stuff he did.
Related note, it took about 8 mins before the first FB comment under the story on FB asked if he’d had “the jab”. Would it be wrong to round these people up and send them to labour camps? /s
Only met him once but absolutely loved him. He was so knowledgeable and brilliant fun on Great House Revival, Home of the Year, and others. I am really sad to hear this news, feel like we’ve lost a real star today. RIP and condolences to his husband, family, friends and colleagues.
